get a block of 2 of that coconut husk (the fine mulch style) and fill that enclosure up with it. at least 2 inches deep. that coconut husk holds humidity very well.

also i recomend lining the interior with a shee of cork bark you can get for 15$ at a hoby store. its a 16x3, 1/8 inch sheet and will hold humidity WELL!!!! humidity should be 80 for the most part of the day. 65 is fine but usualy mine is 30 when i wake up in the morning, then i mist and it says 80.

:) hope this helps, a warm humidid cage m akes for a healthy frill, expecialy when there young

you guys are on the money. some greens and vines are on the list to add. as well as finding some cork board. I lined the sides with animal screen for climbing and it holds some water when you spray the cage down, but I would like some cork board for the back. and I might try the cocunut husk. humidity is good if i spray but it does drop after a while and someone is not always home to spray a few times a day.
I got the mercury vapor bulb and made some nice basking spots and thought this little guy would love it but I have yet to even see him go under it. he seems to prefer the spot under the small light as in the picture. i guess as long as he is warm enough and seems happy its his choice.

Hi jm4372 ....I use a 100 watt. MVB also and found my fd doesn’t hang out under it all the time like my beardies do ,so I am GUESSING they may not require as much uvb as beardies. As long as he has access to it ... Very nice set up. Where did you find that big branch.

Hi Dv. I got the driftwood on ebay actually. I got that large branch for 99 cents. Of course then you have to pay $15 for shipping but still a lot cheaper than buying retail if you can even find things like that. It was exactly what I had in mind. there are quite a few people on ebay selling driftwoods.
Funny thing after I wrote that post yesterday about my FD never going under the mvb bulb? I figured he had a week to settle in so when I got home I gave him a little soak in the tub and added a few vines to the cage. When I put him back he was like a different lizard. Went right under the mvb and was basking and gaping, then was exploring. I cant think the vines excited him that much so I am thinking maybe he was a little dehydrated and the soak gave him some vigor.

soaking is a great thing, sometimes dragons dont know how to use there water bowl or dont even realize where it is, untill you start seeing poop in the water bowl assume he doesnt know where it is, and doesnt use it much! weekly soaks would be in order in such cases to help hydrate, even more then once a week but you dont want to stress out the poor fella, what i do is when i put my dragon back in the enclosure i put him in his water bowl, or, i put the water bowl in a high traffic area.
