 Is my tank big enough

i caught a hatchling fence lizard about two weeks ago and i am unaware to tell whether it is an eastern or western but i am more concerned as to whether my tank is large enough and equipped properly. i have the hatchling in a 5.5 gallon tank for now and i am using a mixture of potting soil and sand with a coconut shelter and a fake vine plant. is my tank large enough and equipped properly?

I’m not an expert but I wanted to tell you I think you are off to a good start for your hatchling. The soil/sand is a good idea because they like to dig in and bury themselves. A place to hide/climb is good. For size of the tank, I think it would be best for it to be in a 10 to 20 gallon tank when it grows up a bit. A shallow water dish for water and a misting every now and then is good.

Hope you have fun with your new lizard.
