 Fence lizard burying itself

I thought our recently caught fence lizard had escaped but found it buried. It appeared dead. When I touched it, no response. Then a cricket walked by and it came to life and caught it. It then ran up a tree limb, saw another cricket on the bottom of the aquarium and ran down and caught it and started acting normal. When I checked on it a little later it had buried itself again. Is this normal?

Yup, it’s perfectly normal. They sleep under the sand. My two do the same at night.
