I see a lot of people here that like to hold their Westerns but I personally have them for aesthetics (looks) and keep them in a nice show vivarium and don’t mess with them. I like to think of it as that they’re wild animals (at least mine are, they’re wild caught) and I don’t want to mess with that. If you do want to hold him or her, this will take a lot of time as they’re very skittish lizards (and quite fast, so try not to lose him/her! lol) And that’s also one of the reasons I don’t let them out, it was a hassle to catch them I’d hate to do it again! lol.

When I have the need to hold something I just grab one of my Leopard Geckos... :) lol. (By the way if you want a pretty lizard that you can hold and chill with, I recommend a Leo!) Westerns don’t drop their tails as quick as Leos but you should still be careful with their tail as they can drop it.

Anyway, I suggest you give her time to adjust and get used to you. That might take a while so be patient or you’ll just stress her out. I personally think some lizards are meant to be handled and some are not... And Westerns really are not. But I see some who are successful at it so maybe you will too! Just give her time to warm up to you first...
