 Baby blue fence lizard caught

hello im repticboy from the turtle forum and i love reptiles ,and today i caught a blue belly fence lizard and and pretty sure hes a male because ,hes has a very bright blue belly. so do u guys think a potting soil substrate would be good for a while.

You can’t really just go with the belly color to determine sex. You can use that in addition to any coloring of the chin, and color as they age.

I actually have one male and one female, and the female is the one with the darker blue, and my male has a very light turquoise color but has it on the chin too, and is darkening to an almost black. (That’s how I know it’s a male) He’s also a LOT stalkier and thicker built. But my female has male colors on her belly, but no chin coloring and she’s not stalky like males.

You’d be better off waiting for a few months to see how he/she grows and go by the colors then. All juveniles/younger fence lizards look the same.
