As for its health, what does he/she normally eat and how often? As far as protein goes, I personally don’t gutload my crickets with protein in particular. But I do use a gutloading mix that has all the essentials of most reptiles and a thirst quenching mix that I buy at the petstore. I think they’re both made by Flukers. But if you wanted to gutload with protein in particular, then finely crushed cat food is a good cricket gut load. It’s got more protein than dog food. Just stick that in a dish with your crickets along with the thirst quench mix... If you don’t want to buy that, then apples and potatoes provide them with water. Some people use sponges to provide them with liquids as well. I prefer using gut loads bought from pet stores. It’s cleaner and easier rather than having to waste a whole apple or potato just to grab a piece for the crickets then ending up with a gross rotten piece of apple in there the next day. With water, I like the thirst quenching cubes because it’s easier to clean up. (Just take the old and wipe, put new in) It’s also more convenient than the sponge or paper towel method... I guess it depends on what is easier or more convenient for you. Cheap but more inconvenient, or just buy the stuff and it’s easier. I prefer easier. lol. |

In any event, don’t worry about your little one’s gray spot. It’s normal for nearly all reptiles to molt from time to time, especially if they are growing. |
