I WANT TO CATCH ONE HLELP!!!

ok if you see one keep this a secret my secret lizard catching technique first get your non dominent hand and wiggle your fingers to distract the lizard then watch the eyes of the lizard see if its watching the hand then get your other hand and slowly move in if he sees the other hand dont move it instead wiggle your fingers again to get its attention away remember keep your destracting hand about 5 inches away from the lizard

and if you need help finding one look for a stump or rotting log and search there also if you carefully dig there you could find several eggs
follow step by step

also if the lizard get to high for you to reach get a water gun a painless way to get him down squirt towards his head cause then he starts to have to come down but remember they hurt when fencies bit

I WANT TO CATCH ONE HLELP!!!

There’s a lot of ways to catch them and they usually take time and patience. Usually two things I never have. lol. I personally got one of my lizards by cornering him and leading him into a box... The other my boyfriend’s daughter caught (probably not in the most safest and nicest way...) with a net. I actually would prefer she didn’t do it that way as it can hurt the lizard, but hey, she’s 9.

My boyfriend caught me a 3-4 inch baby the other week which I released after showing my kids. He said he caught it by hand.

The "method" I’ve tried and succeeded at a few times (didn’t actually keep those ones) is the lasso/noose method. I’ve actually only done this on the bigger lizards so I don’t know how well it will work with juvies. They’re a little more skittish. You take one of those long pieces of grass that you see in dry fields and make a lasso at the end. The kind of knot that allows the knot to slide back and forth to tighten or loosen the hole. Anyway, you just basically slowly creep up on the lizard and get the noose around its head. It won’t move because the lizard is used to grass, trees and all that blowing around, so it won’t think it’s a danger. If you made the noose correctly, it will tighten when you slowly pull and you’ve got yourself a lizard. I’ve actually had a time or two where I was in such a hurry that my knot sucked and didn’t close right. The lizard got away after constant tugging trying to tighten the noose. lol. but they actually don’t move for quite a while... I’m thinking the only reason they really move is because they’re annoyed. Make sure it’s at least 3 feet long so you won’t have to get too close to the lizard and scare it away.

I’ve also heard of another way which I haven’t tried. You can dig a hole in the ground and put a bucket in the hole and create kind of a "path" to the hole using whatever you prefer. By blocking off those paths on both sides you can lead the lizard to the hole and voila... they’ll drop in the bucket. I personally think that’s way too much work for a lizard.

I WANT TO CATCH ONE HLELP!!!

I have caught 5 in the last month (1 adult male, two baby-jv males, and one jv female) but i only kept the jv male and the jv female. They are alot of fun to watch and you can keep them with green, brown anoles, longtailed grass lizards, and house geckos.Mine are kept in a 20gal long with a green anole, and a long tail grass lizard. But good luck catching one they are really fast you just have to keep chacing one if you want to get one.

Go out in the morning when it is still cool; this means like at dawn! They don’t move too fast when the temperature is in the low 60’s Fahrenheit. Carefully dismantle the wood pile and you should be able to find and pick them up easily. If they are hiding out in a too big to dismantle wood pile, build a smaller pile nearby, wait a couple weeks until someone decides to make it their territory, and dismantle that once you see new occupants. Works for me!
You can lay pieces of plywood around where you see lizards. Lift up the plywood at dawn and you stand a good chance of finding a lizard. The key is cool temperatures. No point trying to catch them once they’ve warmed up.
