 Fence Lizard?

Hey everyone. I just wanted to ask if this is a fence lizard. I am pretty sure it is an Eastern fence lizard but not certain. These guys are all around by house in the summer, and are really cool.
Here is the pic.

Thanks

Cool, that is what I thought it was.
But hey I have another question for you (or whoever).

Where can you buy these guys at?

I was thinking about getting one, but I don’t feel right just taking them from the wild. Do you know of any breeders (like maybe a web site that sell them) that sell captive bred?
If you can tell me that would be awesome. Thanks.

i dont know where you can BUY them, but i think that if there are tiny ones aroud(i wouldn’t think about keeping these, as they are too hard to keep alive), that you could probably catch an adult one?
i don’t know i catch western fence lizards,
nicole

I disagree. I found mine when she was a baby. She was only 2" from head to tail. You just have to feed them the appropriate size food. She was so small I had to feed her fruit flies. Very small pin head crickets will work too but they are sometimes hard to find in pet stores. You also have to dust their food with calcium for them to grow along with using a UVB bulb so they can absorb the calcium. I live in Calif. and there are alot of fence lizards around.

Yep yep yep, no doubt about it, that’s a western. I don’t want to say that it’s ok to take them out of the wild, but if you are ready to supply for all it’s needs and will give the little cutie a happy life then he looks like a good candidate. It really depends on what you’re looking for in the lizard that decides weather you should get a baby or an adult. The thing about fencies is that they are usually pretty docile even when they’re adults, but if you want to have yours for a long time, babys are for you. The thing I like about the babys is that you get to watch them grow, and since they’ve been in captivity since they where you, when they get bigger, they will be more tame.
Some adults bite, but I’ve found that to be rare, and I’ve had a lot of fencies. But babys tend to run around really fast and are sometimes hard to hold, though not always. I had a little male that looked just like the one you caught named Euphrates and even when he was a baby, he was very fast, but didn’t run or jump off of my hand. Every one of them has a different personality, you just kind of get what you get, though they do make very good companions. ^^

Wow, I completely forgot about this post until today.
I won’t be keeping the one in the pic, he is long gone by now. That pic is a few years old, I just used it because it was the best pic I have of one of them. I am confident I could care for one, their care seems like it would be pretty easy.
Since there is know where to buy them, I might keep one once spring comes around if I find one that I like and one that will eat.
Well, thanks for the help everyone.

It isn’t illegal. Well, not where I live (Southern California). Every state has different laws, and counties also may have regulations as well. Check online to be sure you are obeying the law(s).

With the information available today via the internet, it is unaceptable for someone to fail at caring for an animal. This is the information age. Care sheets are all over the internet and even this site.

I was just wondering if you still have these guys running around and where are you located at... You can catch them and raise them I have one in my house right now and he is doing great, I have had him for about 2 years now and no probs with him. Please get back with me as I would love for you to catch me a couple of them.
Thanks

Breeders convention is the best place to buy a fence.

you can tell a male from a female because a male will have dark blue chin spots and dark blue strips on either side of it’s underbelly..a female will only have light blue chin spots...
