 LIZARD SUFFERING - HELP NEEDED!

My cat caught a lizard that was in the house (unbeknowst to anyone) this morning which I saw happen - I tried to make him let go but he clamped down and punctured the lizards skull and behind it’s neck. It bled some and then stopped. I took the lizard outside on top a blanket and put it on my porch, thinking it would either recover & take off or die pretty quickly.

It’s been 3 hours and that poor thing is still out there breathing, it’s head bent awkardly to one side, and partially paralyzed. It appears to seizure if you touch it. It’s not going to live and I don’t want it to starve/dehydrate to death. What can I do to put it out of it’s misery QUICKLY? I cannot & will not step on it, bash it or anything like that....no violence.

I’ve heard you can put reptiles in the fridge (in a container with airholes) to make it go into a coma and then transfer to freezer after a day for a humane kill. Is this true?

Please, any recommendations/opinions will be anxiously awaited. The poor thing looks like it’s really suffering.

Thank you.

 LIZARD SUFFERING - HELP NEEDED!

Thanks for all your advice - he was near death last night around 6 p.m., wouldn’t even open his eyes anymore and unsteady breathing. I know it’s horrible and I cried, but I followed advice from the anole forum and had my husband give him a quick painless end. I wish we had just done it sooner since he was suffering. Sorry for the sad news.
