 Hedgehog in a tank?

It much easier for me to heat a tank than it is a wire cage, but I was worried about ventilation. Will it be fine or do you have any suggestions for heating a wire cage (something to put in the bottom)?

Thanks

Bit cumbersome to clean, people say keeping heat in is a problem but I’ve never had too much of a problem with it. God ventilation is needed for an enclosed area to prevent build up of ammonia.

ive never really heard of a heating pad for a hedgehog, so this really ISN’T nessessary. its better to keep them in cages. than tanks, its safer and healthier. it can get super hot in tanks. so use a cage NOT a tank and NO heating pad.

 Hedgehog in a tank?

unless you keep your house very warm you need a heating pad or ceramic heat emitter(ceramic heat emitter with a thermostat being better especially when you do have a regular cage b/c heating pads only heat one area)

should be around 78 degrees or so
they will go into hibernation if they are not kept warm enough and can die

please dont give out information when you dont know what you are talking about

 Hedgehog in a tank?

My neighbor has two hedgehogs. They are both in 30 gallon critter cages (36x18x12). He uses 5-10 gallon Zilla brand UTHs on one side. With thick substrate (I think he uses Aspen Shavings) it keeps a temp of around 80 degrees. I was looking into getting one, and talked to him about his setup. My local herp shop sells them and they suggested the UTH as well. CHE can get really hot and would absolutely need a thermostat. As long as you have a screen top, and keep your cage clean, the ventilation should be good.
