 New to dogs!

I can finally join this forum (always wanted to... lol) because... We got a dog!!! She’s a Kangal/Boerboel cross. Her name is Areli, although we might change it. We got her when she had fleas, but we’ve cleared them up now. She’s a very laid back, mellow, friendly dog. She’s about 9 weeks old.

Here are a few pictures...

We have goats and ducks, so we’re trying to train her to be around them without chasing them. The goats are a lot more cautious around her then the ducks (of course... lol). Areli wants to play with our goat kids but they’re terrified of her. And she loves to chase the ducks, which we’re trying to teach her not to do. She definitely doesn’t hurt anyone though, so that’s good. But we just got her on Tuesday, so I wouldn’t expect her to be totally trained now. We’re using Jan Fennell’s book, "The Dog Listener", to train her. Her method is already working on Areli.

So anyway, thanks for looking!

 New to dogs!

Awh shes cute nice pics, how big is she supposed to get? and puppys are the best i’ve got a black lab mix whos 7 but as hyper as my grandmothers 10month old yellow lab its crazy and I have an 80lb beagle...well that was how much she weighed when we last weighed her but we only feed once a day now. my dogs used to love our chickens and ducks when we had them theyd lay around with them but eventually my lab became too playful with the ducks so we had to watch her around them but its always good to train them when theyre young! good luck thats a beautiful dog you have :]

 New to dogs!

Thanks guys!

Venom6547 -- Well, her dad is huge. His back is like 3 feet high. Her mom was shorter. Like the size of a lab, I guess. Yeah, puppies are the best! :D What are your dogs’ names? :D

LizaB2008 -- Hi. :) A lot people have said that have seen her, actually. They guess that she’s part bloodhound too... but she’s not. Thanks. :)

I have bred Great Danes. Her face and paws are what remind me of the Danes, I don’t see where they would see bloodhound though?

Thank you!! Kage never likes to take pics!

And you welcome for the suggestions. I could come up with more. Like Becca, Sheba, Pretty, Lil’, Sassy, Dorito, Hanna, Roxy, Gracy, Violet, Pocahonous, Kiara, Zeriha, Malina, Mia, Cindybear, Lady, Sandy, Prudence, and Boo-Boo. That’s all I could think of off the top of my head.

I use to have some goats called Pollen-tech, Krissy, and Baby!

And I knew a goat named Sassy! :D lol

When we were researching Areli’s name, we some other names we liked were Nantale (NAN-tall-ee), and Kfiera (KA-fear-a). They all mean something "Lion"... we think Areli’s looks a lot like a lion. Her colors and how she walks are so much like them!

What kind of goats did you have? We have Nubian Dairy goats and a couple Nigerian Dwarfs. If you go to my profile, one of my pet profiles, Starle’s, is my Nigerian Dwarf. :) there are a couple pictures there. Here’s one of all the Nubian’s though:

This is our loved (and popular through the herd) Pegs. :) She’s so goofy, which makes her very lovable!

Thanks! We’ve already had to upgrade to a new collar! LOL :D We’re about to introduce her to our neighbor dogs. A pitbull and a smaller dog. We’ll see how that goes...

More pics, couldn’t resist. ;)

And... our goat kids! :D The two tan colored kids--in the bottom pic--are best buds. The other two (in the separate pics) are siblings, and we bottle feed them.

We were at the feed store yesterday, and the guy there said that she had grown bigger then a last week when we were there! LOL :D I just made her some "stuffed animals". She’s sleeping with them now.

Hm, okay. Can you answer these questions: what were their ears like? Were they little goats are bigger goats?

Here are some examples of "long ears" or "little ears":

Long ears.

And short ears.
