OT- Cat Nailed to Utility Pole

Sorry this is off topic but I just felt it needed to be shared.
So, just outside my town about 5 miles out last Monday a woman found her recently deceased neighbor’s cat nailed, upside down, to a utility pole. It was rushed to the vet’s clinic almost dead but was later given an 80% chance of survival. Unfortunately, it passed away Thursday morning. However, community support was immense and the humane society I volunteer at and adopted my cat Shiloh from established the "Dutch Memorial Fund". It received national attention (which is quite exciting for us, considering we’re a midwest farm town of 6,000), including spreads in USA Today and several features in statewide papers. Donations and calls have poured in from Georgia and Florida (we’re in northwestern illinois along the border), and even one from Australia! So many donations have come in, enough to cover Dutch’s medical bills and more, that the fund is continuing to be used to cover emergency expenses for other neglected and abused animals. It’s really shaken up our community, and there’s even a facebook group supporting Dutch. It goes to show you how sick some people are, but we are all fighting for justice towards the low person who did this (the cat was nailed through his hind paw upside down for up to 2 days, animal control said. He was such a sweet cat, even jumping into a shelter worker’s arms while he was in the vet’s ICU).
This is just an update and in Dutch’s memory.
RIP Dutch

I know right? My best friend lives in that stretch of town and she’s afraid to let her kitty Bella outside. All day Bella just sits by the window and cries to be let out, but they’re afraid to have her go out unsupervised.

This makes me sick to my stomach...this person should be stoned, beaten, humilated...just disgusting that we live in a world where this is allowed to happen

Yeah, our sheriff is retiring soon but he vowed to catch this person before he retires. It’s good to know some officials want justice for all animals.
