 Best Substrate?

What is the best substrate to hatch crickets in? I wanted to use potting soil, but I don’t want other bugs all over the house or anything. Would it be possible to sterilize teh potting soil? Any other way besides baking it in an oven?

Could use coco-fiber, or something like that. Pretty much anything that holds moisture. I’ve had crickets be temporarily in a cage with bark in it and before I knew it, there was baby crickets runnin around haha. Wasn’t intentional but that female just wants to lay eggs, found a spot and boom babys. You could use some organic potting soil, it’d work fine, or some organic peat moss.
