Just a Q or 2. (Reposting from "Last minute Q..") Hi guys... I have a 1’4" normal corn... presently using aspen and a bulb for heating.. Still waiting on funds for a uth... fortunately she seems happy, as she spends more time hiding than looking for a way out... and feeds well..(and yes I feed her in a seperate enclosure to prevent impactation)... She’s in a 65 gallon tall with many hides... I live in Oregon and seem to be having good luck keeping the humidity up using aspen... My question is: how much does the average uth and thermostat cost? When my b/f gets paid again I’m hoping to get her one.. If, of course; the bills don’t take up all our cash again... *pout* Also, when I do get the uth, should I get repti-carpet to put over it to prevent bellie burn? I heard that’s a good idea...

Just a Q or 2. (Reposting from "Last minute Q..") I personally dont see the point in a UTH if you have a over head light.
But that little snake can actually get stressed out in such a large enclosure. Adults only require a twenty gallon (I prefer to give them a little more though)
Glad to hear it doing well I am not sure of the original question But I know they can get up to a hundered bucks.(but I think you can find some for alot less)
Good Luck

Thanks for the info, but the fact about it is, that we keep her tank in our bedroom and the light bothers us at night.. ’cause she doesn’t seem to stay warm enough without it on... When we do leave it off at night, she spends all her time under the lamp, waiting for us to turn it back on... So how much is a Cheap UTH? and still curious about the repti-carpet over the uth, under the aspen inside her tank... is that really nessesary? (to protect bellie burn)

Just a Q or 2. (Reposting from "Last minute Q..") UTH around here are $15-$20 for a small one in a store. You might be able to find one at a reptile expo for cheeper. If you look around online you might find one for really cheep if you go to the right place.
I’m not sure about the reptile carpet but my UTH doesn’t seem to get very hot so I just use several sheets of paper towel.
But I’m new to this too, so others inputs might help more

I have a stick-on reptile Ther. ... on the cool end of the tank... I never let it get above 86f on the cool end, since its been really hot around here in the past several weeks... it just cooled down to the 70’s this week... and she seems to be doing fine with the light on at all times... I don’t like the fact that I haven’t been able to give her any dark time, as I only have the one bulb setup.. (a 60 watt bulb) was using a 100 watt, but ran out of those.. I have another lamp, but only one clip.. and another bulb that is a 25 watt black light.. which I haven’t been using because I was concerned that it wouldn’t be warm enough at night for such a large tank... Should I try the black light? What’s the Lowest temp I can let it get to before its Too low?
oh, and here’s my current tank setup:

The blue tupper ware thing was for a humid hide when she was shedding last....
