 Cornsnake Genetics Log Book.

Hello all.

Well, I will be getting into cornsnakes again soon, I’ve only had experience with babies, and they unfortunately did not turn out as expected. But I’ve begun research on the genetics of these snakes, and would like your help.

I’m creating a document about the genetics (particularly double recessive forms, as there are so many triple recessive forms we’ve never seen that I’d have a hard time finding ANY information on them) of cornsnakes, and I am trying to gather information on some of the more less-known combinations. To my knowledge there are currently 17 total recessive traits (mind you, genetic traits. We are not talking about phenotypes as that would be impossible to record the infinate possibilities of the effects of selective breeding), 18 if you include the heterozygous form of Diffused, but that is not a recessive trait, it is an incomplete dominant one, and no one really uses the het form of Diffused much. But it would be good to remember that.

Anyway, if my math is correct, there are 289 possible double-recessive combinations, and we have only scratched the surface of them. If you have any pictures or information regarding the mutations on the list, please let me know or post it in this thread.

Ultra, and any combinations using it.
Any combinations using Ultramel
Any combinations using Sunkissed
Kastanie, and any combinations using it.
Dilute, and any combinations using it.
Any combinations using Cinder.

That will be it for now, as I am still making the list of the 289 combinations. It will take a while. But thanks for any help, and hope to join you soon as a fellow Cornsnake owner.
