What should I buy for feeders at the expo?

I will need to feed my new corn. So I am going to stock up at the expo on frozen prey. What should I buy and how many? I was thinking that I would buy 30 pinkies, 30 fuzzie and 30 hoppers. What should I buy? The pet store here don’t sell any rodents that are already frozen, and if they did they would be over priced. So I want to stock up.

What should I buy, and how many. I have $72 to spend at the expo, so I have enough to buy what I need for feeders.

All I need now for my new corn, is a digital therometer that I am going to buy at walt mart when we go school clothes shopping.

Thank you,

Emma.

I don’t know how fast this corn will grow (yes, it will be a hatchling). I don’t know what to buy. Should I just buy pinkies now, then try to order offline. There is a pet store about a hour away that sells live pinkies, and little mice. That is all. So I don’t know.

How many pinkies should I buy?

Thanks.

Just buy pinkies until it is ready to move up. Prey items should not be larger than one and a half times the width of your snake. You never know how long it will take for them to be ready to move up prey size. My two corns are close in age but completely different in size so while one was on pinkies the other was well in to to fizzies. Every snake is different so you can;t really plan for them how quick or how much they will grow lol.

The dealers at shows usually sell them in bags of 100 pinkies and they wont split the bag up. I can’t say that is going to be the case at the show you are going to. Right now your hatchling will eat only 1 pink every 5-7 days. But at some time you will be able to bump it up to 2 pinks a feeding. If you can get a bag of 25 or 50 that would be ideal. (100 pinks will last you a pretty long time. You just have to make sure you re-seal the bag and get out as much air as possible. They can last for about 6 months is sealed good.)

 No Way Would I Buy 100 Pinkies . . .

My local Petco sells frozen pinkies in bags of three (from Gourmet Rodent) for about $4... That’s most of a month’s supply to feed a hatchling, so 100 would be well over a year’s supply, and the snake will be big enough to eat bigger stuff by then . . .

My baby corn I hatched last July easily handles two hoppers or one slightly bigger one every meal . . . I raise my own since I have eight snakes, but even if I got a clutch of 20 eggs (I lost this years’ due to an incubator problem), my experience is 100 pinkies would be an awful lot . . .

BTW, I finally got around to seeing you post over on the Milk Snake section, and I wrote a reply. From my experience, I’ll bet you can get a hatchling corn for around $20 and a milk snake for about $30 . . . If you can spring for two cages and UTH heaters, I think you’ll find picking up a package of pinkies or two every week won’t strain your budget . . .

Whatever you get, make sure it’s eating well (particularly with corns; milk snakes are less problematic in that area).

Mrs. Froggie- a great site to get frozen rodents from is The Mouse Factory . com. (w/o spaces) They’re great! The rodents are plump, clean, and they are not stained by urine or feces. best of all, you can mix sizes of rodents when you order. so you could get 50 rodents, but like 10 pinks, 10 fuzzies, 10 hoppers, etc. its great. call them to place an order, their service is VERY friendly and accomodating.
