 Re-using a UTH?

Hey, I want to re-use a uth that I took off an older tank. There was no damage or anything to the uth, no wires exposed and it works the same as it did before. I just need a way to re-attach it to the smaller tank I will need for a baby corn. I know that I can use "silver tape" to tape the uth to the bottom of the tank, as well as place a piece of insulator foam under the uth to prop it against the tank... My question is, can I use electrical tape? I have about 10 rolls and I know it’s used to tape electrical wires so it’s not flammable or anything.. Rather stupid question I know but any input is appreciated.

electrical tape will work just check it occasionally because it does tend to come off some over time.

Yeah, electrical tape will work... until it heats up and loses some of its adhesive-ness.

For the last few times I’ve "re-used" a UTH, I’ve used regular old Duct ("Duck") Tape. It tends to not fall off or lose its adhesive-ness over time.

Haven’t used "Gorilla" tape, yet, but would probably go with that over electrical tape.

Thanks for responding guys. What is the best way to use the tape though? Just use it all around the edges of the UTH or put a cross through the center of it maybe?

Yeah, so do I... but remember that the UTH has to be in direct contact with the glass... so make sure that it is tight up against the glass while taping it on. Otherwise, over time (esp. with electrical tape), you’ll get a pocket of air separating the UTH from the glass... and the heat transfer won’t be as effective.

I only mention this because it has happened to me! LOL.
