 Post you setups!!

I amy be getting a corn this week and I wanted to get some cage ideas. Right now I have a 10 gallon tank. When the corn gets older I plan on getting him/her a 20 gallon long. The only place to get corns here is at the dreaded pet co. So that’s where I’ll be getting my corn to.

When you post your setup, can you tell me what’s in your setup, like bedding, ect ect.

I just called petco. They have albinos, normals, the black and white ones and the letistic (sp) ones. i am going to try to get a albino or a black and white one. Their price is $39.99. I asked about the corns basic care and the girl said everything correct. Aspen, UTH, 20 gallon tank when older, water dish, two hides, over head light for warmth. She was right on the money, which is kinda weird for a pet co person. :)

The reason why I am thinking about getting a corn is because my pacman frog died last night for no reason. I just found him their, with his eyes coloed and all limp. He was in a 10 gallon, which is perfect for a baby corn!

I just have to ask my mom if I can get one. Before I know that she said I could get one, but I got two leopard geckos instead. Hopefully now, with a tank free, I can go buy a new member!

I have one question..... do they need a over head light? Can they just ahve a UTH (I already have one of those from my pacman frog)?

Heat Lamps aren’t essential and UTH should be fine on its own.

If anything, UTH is much better that a Heat Lamp as Corn Snakes really need heat on their bellies to digest their food. Although, your little guy will still enjoy warming up under a heat lamp so it still isn’t a bad idea to use both!

almost three feet
an ALSO a cage should have atleast 3+ hides there are 2 other hides you cant see in the pics. ans I usually have a little tree on top of the right hide. (but I still got that vine in there)

I’m a tightwad, and I know I could do better than $40 for a hatchling corn, but I certainly understand your situation (I’ve seen them on sale there for $29, BTW). Big thing is make sure the snake is nice and muscular and eating well . . . A friend of mine worked at Petco, and he told me some horror stories about shipments he’d received and how he managed to nurse quite a few of the abuse victims back to health.

Petco and milk snakes are another issue however; I haven’t seen one for less than $100, which is way to much for something like an ordinary Nelson’s, Sinaloan, or Pueblan . . .

I will be buying my candy cane corn from J&J Reptiles. I already e-mailes the guy. Candy canes are $25, butters are $35 nad amels and snows are $25.

Sounds good to me. At our show here last year I saw baby bearded dragons at $25 that routinely go for eighty bucks or more anywhere else. This stuff is as much a labor of love for the participants, and usually the quality of livestock is excellent and the purveyors are nice and extremely knowledgeable, particularly when you’re an interested young lady . . .
