Oops. Wrong picture. There’s actually been a small rearrangement of cage furniture since that was taken, This was taken today, plus it’s a better action shot of Pancho about to leap up onto the branches.

Well, certain favorite spots are easier to get clear shots of others than others. If they were all on the big basking brick, for example, and I aimed to get a good clear shot of all three of them, probably one and a half would be obscured by the flash.
Generally, Pancho goes everywhere because he’s a bouncing blue superball but spends by far the most time in the branches. Lupe spends the most time on the basking brick, the least time on the rock wall, and is also the most likely to go into the cave for a mid-day siesta. Chica divides her time the most evenly among branches, brick, tall rock, and ground, and also digs. The first set of mistakes that I ever had to correct in their setup involved Chica getting caught several times between rocks and glass. She is apparently their designated cave-finder. Lupe is the slightly dominant one simply because she’s the biggest, but she’s pretty laid back about it as long as she’s fed. Pancho is in charge of patrolling arond making sure their territory is secure. Mostly from crickets.

I’m with you on the sand. The more of it you have, the longer the ground takes to heat up, so it’s good for the thermal gradient. Plus, if I start with a ton of it I can take out as much as I want when I clean. When it gets to the point where I’m considering a top-off, I’ll just toss it all and start fresh.
