I need advise please? I was thinking of purchasing a new chameleon.
I have never owned one before, I have owned reptiles before.
I saw one in a local pet store and I believe that i fell in love,
What do I need?
Which species is better for first timers?
Advise?
Habitat set up?
Food?
Temperament?
Temperatures?
Environment?
Handling?
I am starting from scratch.

I need advise please? I was reading some other posts and they said that Veiled Chameleons are good starts, it said they are hardy and are less susceptible to beginner mistakes?
Is that true?
What about carpet Chameleons?

I need advise please? For a starter cham I would go for a veiled cham. Caging is simple a 16L-16D-20H screen cage is good for baby’s-juveniles. And a 24L-24D-48H screen cage is good for sub adults-adults. Temperatures for baby’s-juveniles is about 80-85 and the temperature for a sub adult-adult is about 85-90. The humidity should be 30%-60%. I use habba mist habba mist is a mist system from petco. The diet should consist of gut loaded (recently fed) crickets, meal worms, silk worms, butter worms, wax worms (wax worms should be treats), collard greens, carrots, and ficus leaves. Use calcium supplement and vitamin/mineral supplement (sprinkle it on food) use calcium every feeding use vitamin/mineral once a week. Feed baby’s and juveniles 5 insects and veggies a day and feed adults and sub adults 5 insects or veggies every other day.

I need advise please? adult veiled chameleons can take upto 95 to 100 basking area sometimes more but i wouldnt recommend it because it could result in a burn , crickets and silkies can be fed as a staple diet (staple means everyday feeding) and meal worms, wax worms, butter worms, and horned worms should be fed as treats AND AGAIN calcium should not be given everyday , if given everyday it can build upto a high level and turn tocix to your chameleons organs so DO NOT give calcium everyday it will kill your chameleon , 2 or 3 times a week is plenty and multivitamins and minerals SHOULD be about 2 or 3 times a month max they dont need all that in them , also it depends on what sex of chameleon you have if its male then 8 to 12 3/8th sized crickets should be given when babies and up the size to 1/2 inch when juvies and keep feeding 8 to 12 crickets and just keep geting bigger crickets or silkworms what ever you prefer to feed your cham , as for females they should be kept on a deit of 8 to 10 feeders a day through out there whole life with a day off each week to make sure she wont be a egg laying machine that lays over 60+ eggs please Bob Billions i know you mean good but you need to do more research before posting to anyones post trying to help , im not being mean i was there before to tryin to help
