 Egg absorbtion?

Is it possible for a female chameleon to absorb her eggs?

My chameleons been laying eggs every 90 days on the nose, but this time she just didn’t do anything...it’s been two weeks after the date (the 9th was her due date) she was to lay. But when I put her in every time, she just sat there and didn’t do much...went to the bathroom and just hung out all day. I put her in her can multiple times, and nothing. I usually put her in 3 days before her due date just to make sure, and then i put her in on the due date, then i put her in every other day after it and got nothing.

Now, she was usually laying 50 eggs a clutch, but this time we decided to cut back on her feeding a bit because we would like to breed her but the male isn’t old enough yet so we kinda wanted to preserve her so to speak. So i was kinda thinking that maybe she was a little too underfed and she just absorbed the eggs, or just didn’t produce enough to make her want to lay. She had all of the symptoms as well (digging on the bottom, but she wasn’t as plump as she usually gets tho.) Now, she acts as if she wasn’t full of eggs, she gets up, basks, uses the bathroom, then i feed her and she drinks just fine. She hasn’t been weak, fallen, or anything out of the ordinary. I just noticed that her stomach is stretched out in the back like it would be if she had eggs, but it’s slowly tightened back up and she looks thin again for the most part.

Could it just be an odd occurrence? Or is she just masking the symptoms?

its very well possible that she has re absorbed the eggs , or its because of the new diet you have tried on her , like you said she was laying clutches 90 days apart and right on the mark to ,mine was the same until i changed her diet , she would then take anywheres from 80 to 120 days in between clutches and did the same as your cham but then with in a week or two she lost her appetite and she began digging so watch for her appetite to slow down and scratching near the bottom , but to make sure she is alright i would take her to a qualified exotic reptiles vet and get them to X-ray her to see if she even has eggs thats what i would do if she hasnt layed them within the next week or two and then you will know forsure if she has reabosrbed her eggs , but sorry i couldnt be off more help and if you have any more questions just shoot em and ill try my best to answer them and no question is stupid or dumb lol better to ask then not to ask lol
