If you want to save this chameleon-you need to understand how wrong things are. First-they need to be misted at least 3 times a dy for 3-5 minutes each time. Yes-it is alot of water. I suspect your cham is dehydrated and possibly has MBD (metabolic bone disease). Actually I am suprised your cham is not dead. You vet is dead wrong on lighting. Chams need UVB-a Zoomed Reptisun 5.0 linear flourescent tube is what most keepers use. Chams also need a basking spot-this is easily accomplished with a clamp lamp and regular household bulb. They associate white light with basking heat. Red lights are useless, and chams need both no light and a temp drop at night to be healthy. You need to know exactly what your temps are. Humidity is important also and live plants help with this. Supplementing is very important and most keepers use 3-Repcal calcium with d3, one without d3, and Herptivite. Dusting with the calcium without d3 about 5-6-times weekly, and the others about 2x monthly an never any one at the same time. These are not easy animals to keep. Knowing if you have a male or female is essential also. If you go to my website under my profile there is a guide to keeping Veiled that is up to date. You need to get the watering, lighting, and temps fixed asap. Gutloading your feeders is needed also.

Tis is a proper cage set-up for a Veiled chameleon...there is a UVB flourescent tube as well as 2 basking lamps-plenty of live plants...

Unfortunately it is hard to find a Vet that knows chameleons. MBD is best initially treated with shots of calcium or presribed liquid calcium until the balance is met, followed by good supplementing. You mentioned that his eye is closed-do youhave a coiled compact UVB lamp-as those are know to cause severe eye issues.
