 Veiled Enclosure Size

I am getting a veiled chameleon soon and wondering on cage size....

I can either do a

48 inches high
20 inches long
19 inches deep

OR

40 inches long
24 inches high
19 inches deep

I am thinking the 24 high 40 long is better.... whatcha think?

the enclosure is currently housing a chinese water dragon. The water dragon is getting a bigger cage (6x6x2ft) so this cage is open for chameleons...

I plan on drilling small holes in the plexi to allow for ventilation and the top is screen...

We are getting a male and female but they will be housed separately...

So i have to decide how i want to split the enclosure in two... either height wise and side by side... or across the middle and top to bottom...

(changes will be done to accomadate chameleons)

So either this way with a cham on either side 20 long x48 high x19 deep:

OR

This way with a cham on top and a cham on bottom 40 long x24 high x19 deep:

I am thinking the second one... opinions?

i think thats a good size enclosure but remove the water bowl because chams drink by licking off the leafs from misting also ad more vines and then that would be perfect you can probaly add more then one cham.

mkay...

I said before that it is setup for my water dragon which is currently in there...
So of course there will be a different water system and more chameleon oriented things.

And I want two of them but want to split the cage in two to prevent fighting. So split it down the middle but what direction would be best?

So what way should I split it for two chams?

For chams, cage height is imperative. 24" tall will not suffice for adult Veileds. The cage will have to be 48" tall and divided side by side. No top/bottom split.

ok side by side it is then.

I knew height is best like with all aboreal lizards but wasn’t sure if the length was too small to do it side by side.

Thanks :D

you want something more vertical then horizontal with your chameleons and bigger the better they love extra space but make sure its not to big that it kills you when you clean it but i would say a 2feet wide 2 feet deep and 4 feet high is going to be a perfect cage for your cham , but dont go any smaller then 18inches wide and 18 inches deep and 3 feet high , they want that extra space as they grow

Ok so officially...

it will be 4ft high which is great
20 inches across wich is more then 18 so that should be OK
then about 20 inches deep... i feel its not quite deep enough but thats an easy fix as they get older.

And thats one cham per that ammount of space. Sounds good :D

Diego is going to love getting the 6x5x2ft cage :D i so excited hee hee
