Which is a good first time chameleon

I would like to get a pygmy or veiled i’ve done my reasearch, but I have a question, which will be easier to keep I can afford a 10 gallon tank or a 38 gallon reptarium. Im thinking pygmy, but veiled is more colorful so im stuck.

well,in a ten gallon tank,u should only put 1 pygmy chameleon. some of ur questions might be answered on "Pygmy Chameleon questions" don’t bother going on care sheets bc it doesn’t have 1 for a pygmy cham

I have often kept a pair or trio of pygs in a nicely planted 10 gallon, but now far prefer the Exoterra terrariums. A male Veiled would be fine in a 38 from about 2-6 months, but then you will need a larger cage. My advice is if you can’t afford all the supplies, do not get into this hobby-it is very expensive and unexpected Vet bills can hit you hard and fast.

i wouldnt suggest a pygmy as a first time chameleon.

majority of the time they are brought in wild caught which are extremely hard to acclimate.

if you can find a breeder near you that sells CB animals, then you have a better chance of getting a healthier animal.
