 Hearter question

I have a 6 foot round horse trough for my spec and have bought a water bed heaters for it because they work well. My question is the top of the heater says this side up but my dad (a electrician/heating Specialist) says it doesnt matter as long as the water can absorb the heat it fine and wont over heat. So im just asking some croc keepers to see what they have to say.
Thanks
sean

 Hearter question

Becuase its going in my basement I am putting 1"sm under the pond the I have the heater then a 6’ round horse trough. But on the heater there’s a piece of blk plastic housing covering where the cord for the heater meets the pad itself so I was going to carve out a small hole in the sm so the heater can lay flat cause if there’s even a small part of the heater that’s not in contact with the pond it can over heat. So that brings me to my question can I use the water bed heater upside down. I don’t think it makes much difference but idk.

 Heater question

I use a water bed heater in my Schneider’s Dwarf Caiman’s enclosure. It works well for my application. My question is, why not just use it the way the manufacturer recommends? I think that the heating elements are closer to the "top" of the pad, anyway. If you want to see how I utilize the water bed heater in my caiman’s enclosure, see my Youtube page, RussellAllen55, and click the "Building my Schneider’s Dwarf Caiman’s new pond.
