 North Carolina Biotope Paludarium

Hi guys, new to the forum. I’ve written a few care sheets though. Basically, I tore down my reef tank, so I have an empty 40 Gallon breeder tank. I want to set it up so that I can do two things with it.
1) Create a thriving ecosystem inside of it
2) Have wild caught animals that come and go, staying inside the tank for 2-3 days. This was, I don’t have to commit to keeping a certain animal for years, but just days, or even hours.
Basically, I need advice for how to set it up. I would like to be able to keep animals from southern Nc including fish, aquatic animals, lizards, frogs, snakes, insects of all types, etc. I currently have nothing but the tank. I will be getting a lid, obviously. Please include everything I should incorporate to make this as natural looking/feeling as possible. Thanks a ton!!

I also have a 40 Gallon long. Either one can be used, whichever is easier to set up.
