 Exo terra terrarium tops

Ive heard that screen terrarium tops filter UV lights in the enclosure. Does anyone know if this is true? Or has anyone else heard this. Please help. If this is true, how can you get a top with bigger holes(not such fine screen) so this does not happen. I also wondered if you can get screen with larger holes for Exo Terra terrariums, as all the ones I have seen have very fine screen. Thanks

This is true....
I own a UVB meter and have done tests >>>measuring the sun light through window screen cuts UVB reaching the reptile by 50%.

However as you asked using hardware cloth with 1/4" spacing or 1/2" will allow the UVB to reach the reptile with no problem. Means you will have to get creative and build your on top. Not too difficult if you have some carpentry tools and skills.
