 Temp question

OK I have burmese pythons but someone is giving me a redtailed columbian boa, something I have never had to keep. So as usual on a new species doing my research and all that good stuff. one problem!Every care sheet on here posts different temps for the hot and cool side. Thats not much of a help. Can you guys tell me what you keep your set ups at? would be a great deal of help.

 Temp question

We keep ours at low 90’s on the hot side and low 80’s on the cool side with about 50% humidity.

 Temp question

Those temps are WAY too high. These are boas that live in the new world tropics covered by the shade of the rainforest canopy. 90f on the hot side is fine, but you need a cool end in the low to mid 70s.

As far as humidity. 50% is great. It is a common misconception that bad sheds come from too low of humidity. Bad sheds often come from poor hydration internally. Making sure the water bowls are cleaned and disinfected regularly can help this significantly.

With pregnant females I do recommend increasing temps up to 5 degrees as they will use it for developing the babies. But please provide sufficient cool end temps for her to thermoregulate.
