my rosy boa has been doing great, eating like a champ and his last shed 2 monthes ago was good, all in one piece. this morning i looked in his tank and found only half of his shed. he still has the other half on. is this bad? i know their shed is supposed to be in one piece. what could this mean?

first off... don’t worry. wait a couple more days. if the shed still doesn’t come off. you can try putting a shed box in his tank. get a little hide box (with a closed bottom or opening on top or on the side) you can make one out of just about any little plastic or cardboard box. line the box with damp sphagnum* moss or damp paper towels. you will have to keep replacing the paper towels they dry fast. this should help. if it does not try handling or holding him or her and wetting your hands lightly with warm water over and over so they don’t fully dry. then as you do this you can try rolling off the shed like a stocking off a leg.( if it does not come off easy do NOT pull hard.) i wouldn’t suggest misting the tank because long exposure to higher humidity can be bad for your rosy. these tricks should work. let us know what happens. good luck.

i highly highly doubt it. how long has it been since he started shedding? did he go into the humidity box? and does the skin appear to be loose on him or tight?

Well...my Rosy has never had any problem shedding but i always end up holding him when he starts shedding. You can wet your hands and just rub them on the skin. If you hold the peice of it that may be stuck, he should start crawling through. Don’t let the humidity go up really high, it can make them sick. You may also let him soak for a few in some warm water, seems to help sometimes as well.

Yea try handling him with wet hands. Also try pulling down the skin lightly..don’t get to rough with it.Let him do the work you can just hold the skin to make sure it comes off fully.
