So yesterday i just bought my first red-tail dont worry i did lots of research before puchasing but i never read anything about holding it. Should i start handling it now or wait 1-2 weeks for it to get used to its new environment usually you dont hold snakes for the first period of time so yah thx!

 Handling Question

Is it a baby? And let him settle for a while. Then began handling. from the big snakes I had like burms and boas when going to handle don’t start near the head or tail/vent. My friend thought he was a handling expert and picked my boa up by his facial and neck area and he bit him on the shoulder but he knows to let go after a.while.

 Handling Question

Yea he’s a baby. Let him settle then you can began handling, its good that you got him young so he’ll get use to you quicker as he grows and know your smell. Just make sure he’s healthy petstores are more prone to sell sick/close to death animals that’s why breeders are prefered better. And research your own info because the petstores give wrong info.

Anyways congrats on your new boa and hope everything works out great!!! :)
