Question about putting live plants in a cage

So i have a pretty big cage for my 35 inch columbian bci.
ill post pics.

today me and my mom were working on the yard and she picked this plant ( my mom said its just a regular ivy).

So my question is, can i put this in her cage without it harming her, cause it would fit in reallt well in her cage.

here is some pics of her, the plant, and the cage

(shes a little bigger than this now

(there is now another rock and a bunch of fake silk moss)

That’s not ivy, its a philodendron. It is toxic if your dog or cat eats the leaves, however I have seen them used in enclosures.

The thing with live plants is that they tend to get knocked over alot. You cant just plant it because you need to be able to change the substrait.

The way to do it safely would be to plant it in a planter that does not drain and has a wide base. The bottom layer inside the pot needs at least one inch of pebbles then dirt, topped with another layer of rocks.

Soil tends to harbor bacteria that can be harmful to your snake. I love real plants...but in my terrariums I use real looking fake plants because its just easier to keep them clean and disinfect them as needed monthly. I put the real plants outside the terrariums and around my house.

Should be fine. Wrap something round the top so she cant get her head stuck in and you’re good to go so long as you feed frozen/thawed.

If the prey item chewed on the leaves and got the poison in its system, it could poison your snake. However, feeding Frozen/thawed eliminates that issue.

And, then you get nice fresh oxygen in the tank as a plus.

Id love to have a tank with live plants if I could find a way to do it without the bacterial issues.
Hmm mabey some "air" plants since they like humid conditions and so do my boas. * taps chin* that gives me ideas. Ha!
