 Problems with Acurite thermometer/hygrometer

I got one, and it says its the same temp on both ends of the cage. when i had a 40 watt bulb it said it was 83.7 now i have a 60 watt bulb and it says its 81.4?

It also says the humidity is at 70?

how do i change the temp and humidity?

here is a pic of the thermometer thing, the cord/sensor is stuck against the side of the cage, wich always feels cold, that may be why. Also i put the sensor right next to the bulb and it went up to 96. Idk though, the humidity is very high though.

Do you have the thermometer outside the cage?

Jason.

THe display part should be inside the cage on the cool end and the probe should be on the floor of the warm end. If they read the same you need more heat. I would recommend an under tank heater(UTH) instead of a bulb. Or if you want to keep the top heat go with a ceramic heat emmitter(CHE). If you really want to keep the bulb make sure it is a bulb built to heat not just a light bulb like you put in a house fixture. If it is a heating type light then get a bigger wattage.

If you’re going to put it in the cage with the snake, I’d advise you to put in in something like an open tupperware container, that way the snake can’t defecate or urinate on it, also, it can’t get wet if the water dish is accidentally knocked over. Nice looking snake BTW.

HAHA, I’m sorry I can’t but laugh at this one. No person stab at the original poster. Funny mistake. We’ve all been there at one point or another.
.
I usually use Velcro and stick the unit itself about an inch above the substrate.
