i assure u my lid is secure...i use velcro all the way around the lid...the laptop is there for extra security...its a for ME to get that lid off and im very confident that he can not budge it ...i will be getting a better one when he gets larger though... i owned a ball python for about 6 years...it escaped 3 times dues to an insecure lid...im very aware of the escaping abilities of snakes......good lookin out though...i appreciate the concern... |

. Many many many people call their Colombian (and other imperator ssp.) boa(s) Red tails. Which actually isn’t true. Colombians often display red tails as neonates but will slowly fade into an orange, brown, or even black when they reach adulthood. There is a Colombian BCC boa that is a True Red Tail but they are extremely rare and I have yet to see anyone own one. True Red Tail boas are that of the constrictor ssp. which are far greater in price. These boas will keep their "Red Tails" into adulthood. . As far as the sex of the boa, there are certain characteristics that can give you an "idea" on what it is, but the only 100% way to determine is to have the boa probed by a vet or someone who knows how to perform the procedure. Male boas tend to have larger spurs that don’t curve as much. Females tend to have smaller spurs that are more curved. But there are exceptions and that’s not always the case. . If you could get a picture of the boa’s tail (stretched out) I might be able to give you a better idea on the sex. Female boas have shorter tails, meaning there is a significant taper from the cloaca to the tip of the tail. Males have a larger tail that doesn’t taper as fast. But like I said, probing is the onlf for sure way. |
