 Hello!

Hey there...this is my first post in this forum. Ill start off with my question. I have a male, 60% het for kahl strain albino. He’s 3 years old, and I feel hes ready to breed. He has dropped sperm plugs in his water bowl many a time, so to me that indicates to me that hes ready to go. anywho, I’ve been planning on breeding him to an albino. I found a GORGEOUS female on craigslist, which yes, sounds shady, but the guy actually knows a whole ton about snakes. He has to give her and his collection up due to financial issues. Im picking her up tomorrow, and for 250$ I feel like that is the deal of my life. Shes an 08, so she has to do a bit of maturing before i put her in with my boy. HERES the deal. What do you guys think will the offspring be? Seeing as my boy is only 60% het for albino...This is the part that confuses me. Will breeding him to a visual albino produce any albinos? Or will i be out of luck because hes only 60% het? I’ve drawn out punnit squares and everything, but Im not sure if im correct. So, if you guys could help id be real happy. Ill post pictures on the appropriate places too! thankss!!

 Hello!

OOOh one I think I can answer correctly! (I know Amie and others will correct me if Im wrong.)

Since your boy is 60% het, that means...he is A. Het, in which case you have great chances of having albinos in the clutch. Or B. He is normal. Meaning all of the resulting babies will be 100% het (the mother being albino).

What you are thinking of doing is "Proving" your male. Meaning, finding out if he really is het or not. Sometimes it takes more than one clutch to prove out or disprove the het.

The good news is, if you hold back a male from their mating, the offspring will be Het for sure, and can be bred back to your female when old enough.

 Hello!

YOu should not breed your albino until she is 4 years old.

 Hello!

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn’t the male be 66% het? Not that it is a big deal, a % is a %. But anway, good luck! Very nice looking snakes you got there.
