 Boa crossbreeding question???

My cousin and I were debating and need ananswer. Is it possible to crossbreed different types of boas like say a dumerils with a redtail? I don’t think you could but I could be wrong. Thanks

Yes, I believe you can. However, generally collectors want boas from a specific locality. When you cross them, you actually devalue the snake, unless you get really lucky and get an amazing morph.

Besides the things pointed out by previous person, you would also be an idiot; so the benefits are not that great.

i think experimenting with breeds is a great idea. who cares if it devalues the snake unless you are running a business and like he said you could come up with something great!

I have heard of that cross being done successfully, but have yet to see visual proof that it has actually happened.

Since a dumerils x red tail would not be a cross between localities it would be two different species it would be considered a hybrid making the value increase most likely.I mean just look at carpballs, walls, super balls, and other stuff their prices are all over $1,000.

 Boa crossbreeding question???

But there genetics are not proven. Some crossbreeding creates infertile young. Some have been proven, others have not. I am not against it, I have a super hypo male I am pairing with my suriname female. Its up to the owner to decide if it is unethical or not. I have always wondered on the breeding of a culumbian or a suriname to a ETB (emerald tree boa). Who knows!
