Aww they are absolutely beautiful!!!
I wish I could have a red tail but unfortunately I live in an apartment and they barely tolerate my iguanas already.

They’re so cute and little!!! I’m more of a bp fan myself (like so many...) but the redtails are gorgeous. Is there a reason the last one is so different-looking from the others?

Hey Wildy!

If those are the same two that you had back in Aug ’08 than they are older than 5 months :)

Or are those two new ones?

Bradleyboa,

Good looking babies. They should look even better after their first shed.

i don’t know the most about bci’s but if those boas wildly has are aug 08’s they should be much bigger then that don’t you think? do the mexican boas get smaller in general then columbians? my male columbian was that size when i got him and he was just a couple months old.

Dumi fan,

Yes Mexican boas can be smaller. The Mexican boas probably have the greatest variance of all the Bci. As adults, they can be as small as 3 feet or as big as 9. But knowing where the ’08s were collected, it’s a good bet that they will be around 5 feet, but they were wild caught. Their size will differ from a captive born and raised Mexican because depending the availability of food up until they were captured. Food doesn’t necessarily come by at regular intervals in the wild, and they expend a lot more energy hunting their food then a boa that just has to look up and strike at something wiggling on a pair of tongs.

If those are different boas from the ’08s then it’s possible that they could be about a year and a half old, and still be that small.

Colombians (ones that haven’t been crossed with other locales) are typically larger at birth than other Bci.

Proves you have an excelent memory! Good discussion though. And adorable babies! I bet they are HUGE by now. *chuckles at Dumerils for finding old posts and draging them up to the surface*
I think its good for new folks to see some of the old posts anyhow. Lots of good information stored in them!
