 Enclosure question

Getting a red tail boa soon and building a custom enclosure for it. Is it ok to make it mainly out of wood? I know water might damage it... If so what should I use to cover it?

Wood enclosures are darn good actually. On the floor you can install vinyl from Home Depot. Just make sure you install base shoe on top of the edges and silicone the seams. Caulking works good if you are hesitant to use window silicone.

Alex Plus CLEAR 2.99 for a 10 oz tube and 3-4 bucks for a caulking gun.

If you like you can seal the walls and sides with water base poly... roll on or brush. 1 coat is ok ...2 is better. Dries fast and odorless and non toxic. The front will need a dam at least 4-6" tall to contain any mess and support sliding glass or panels.
Dont make it accessible from the top only.

Have you thought about heat and thermostats ?? I use a heat panel and they last forever. Hooked up to a cheap reptile stat hasnt failed me yet.

Google Radiant heat panels for a multitude of choices.
