 Controling heat in the cage

So I have a heating pad for my Boa, and as I’ve been reading on this site I’ve come to notice that I should probably get a dimer of some kind. Can anyone recommend one for me to use?

Also would you recommend a heating pad or a light? I use to have Ball Pythons which I used a light source for, but I’m not sure if one would be better than another.

Don’t use dimmers, they have to be manually controlled, which is not practical if you are a person who does not stay at home all the time.

Get a thermostat. You can get cheap ones at the pet store or a hardware store. For the more high end models specifically made for reptiles, I suggest you google Herpstat from spyderrobotics, helix thermostats, or vivarium electronics. You will spend more money on these, but it will be worth it.

As for heating, describe the enclosure for us. It will depend.
