 Het Albino Confusion

No, you would need both parents to be het for albino in order to get 66% hets.

When you breed a het albino to a normal, all individual would be "listed" as 50% possible het albino. Basically the albino gene would only be passed down to +/- 50% of the babies. And I say +/- because the percentages really don’t mean much. It’s just statistically what is supposed to happen, but nature just works the way it wants to. In my litter, I was "supposed" to get ghosts, but nature shut that down! haha

Now to clear up the 66%. In order to get that number, both parent would have to be het albino. So just for easy numbers, if you only had 4 babies: 1 would be albino, the other three would be normal.

Out of the 3 normal, only two would be het for albino. 2 out of 3 or 66%

Hope that clears up a little confusion!

nice concise answer Wil! Good way to explain it ( and include the fickleness of Mother Nature!)
