 New Baby Boa!

On Sunday I went to the MARS reptile show and was only planning on doing some price shopping and looking around but I ended up bringing a new one home.haha
He’s an 09 Anery Boa, I’m still deciding on a name for him..right now I’m stuck between Eclipse and Travey..if I come across any others it’ll probably change again..i’m so indecisive. The only other snake I’ve had is a ball python so I’m new to boas so any advice is welcome and appreciated! :]

Nice. I just got rid of an 07’ Anery male. Good luck with him and pay close attention to your temps. and humidity and you should do fine.

What a cutie! Yeah, I agree about the Humidity and temperatures. Get him good housing for when its an adult, they grow fast between 1-3 years of age...incredibly fast!

By small tank, I assume you mean a ten or twenty gallon.

That’s find for a little one, However they are HORRIBLE for keeping humidity in! But its possible to set it up so it does.

1. Dish large enough for the whole snake to soak in.
2. I recommend an under tank heater on one end, and place the water dish half over the heater so some moisture evaporates. Put a hide of some sort on the end next to the water. Half log, leafy fake plant...whatever....
3. Cover 3/4 of that top with something! Aluminum foil, sheet of plexi cut to fit, whatever.

Make sure you get yourself a thermostat (preferably with two probes!) and digital thermometer and a hydrometer for the cage. Get ones that you can set up in the ten gallon now, then transfer to the " big cage". Also, that larger cage will need extra hides and such when the snake is younger. Fake plants and logs are great for this.

For bedding, No cedar, sand or pine shavings. Aspen, reptibark, coconut hull fibre all good. Newspaper or paper towels are just fine!

Here’s a pic of my enclosure from when mine was that age.

I’ll be going to the store either later today or thursday to get some fake plants, a thermometer/hydrometer and whatever else.
For the size of the enclosure for when he’s an adult do you think that a 5x3x2 (LWH) would last him his whole life?
Thanks for you help!

5X3X2 should work great for him as an adult. my adult is in a 54" x 22" x 15" Iris tub, and he has plenty of room
