Need help with my new Boa. You need to let her acclimate for 7-10 days. No handling no interaction other then changing water and spot cleaning. She is stressed from the new home and over handling. After the 7-10days start out slow. Ten mins or so a few days a week then work you way up to a few mins ever day, or longer times once every few days. Remember you have about 20+ years to handle her. You want to make sure she starts off right and you have a good experience with her.

Need help with my new Boa. I agree. Give her time to get used to her new surroundings. It’s not uncommon for nics to be defensive. Most grow out of it as long as your not teaching her to be agressive. For example...constantly bothering her :)

Need help with my new Boa. Lol Tactic, I just got a baby boa too, but he doesn’t hiss at me. He just bites lol. I let him acclimate for around 4 days, then tried feeding him on the fifth since he insisted on trying to bite so much, and he ate it! That was on wednesday, I’m going to start with his holding this afternoon, which would’ve given him a full 2 days to digest.

Need help with my new Boa. It starts with the belly turning a slight pinkish color. Then they will take an overall dull or clouded appearance. Their eyes will turn grey or blue(they can’t see at this stage so be careful). Then a few days later they will clear up. Usually within 24-48 hours they will shed. During this time it is best not to handle them at all and most will go off feed. Also shed time depends on age and size. Young small snakes shed faster and more often then larger older snakes.
