 Whats the difference??

There is prob. a big one but...i just don’t see a difference between a TRB a Colombian boa and my Nicaraguan boa! Is it just because there found in different parts of the world?

 Whats the difference??

Generally True Red Tails are Boa constrictor constrictor found in South America South of the Cordillera Occidental in the Northwes corner of South America. They tend to have much brighter tails than boa constrictor imperator which is found north of the moutains through Central America. Any B.c.ssp can have a red tail. But years ago, the term "Red Tail" was for the much more colorful B.c.c. Made it so a seller could ask a lot more for them because they had better color then the "common" boa.

Color is brought out in selective breeding more nowadays. So finding a Nicaraguan, Colombian, Honduran, etc with a red tail is not that uncommon anymore. Especially if there is mixed breeding between B.c.c and B.c.i.

One thing I didn’t see mentioned here is Nic boas are dwarf boas. Typically they don’t exceed length of 5 foot where as the others you mentioned can get around 7-9 foot. I have 2 nic boas and that was the main reason i bought them first. They stay a pretty manageable size. Now I have an albino and a RTB. The boa bug must have bit me. LOL

The Nic in the the picture above was 2 1/2 at the time and was 42 inches. He’s in a 12 quart tub for size. My first boa was a Nic as well, I got him just under two years ago, now there’s a Surinam, a suri cross het albino, a dh sunglow, a dh snow, two suri cross possible het albino, an anery het albino, an arabesque 66% het albino, a pair of het leopards, a coral albino, an Aby pastel, and a normal, with a pair of parahets on the way. I got attacked by a swarm of boa bugs!
