OK now to get serious... for those of you who don’t know i have a Nicaraguan boa (might be mixed with a red tail boa) and yea i was happy to have her at first all all that, BUT now i really need to now what i need for her. I was told i could use aspen bedding, newspaper, and some types of mulch. i have a stick and rock for her to climb on, a big water bowl (she can fit in it) and that’s it. (because i have a Savannah monitor i will also be getting a temp gun) I am new to boa (this is my first one) and i would like as much info as possible (i already know how big they get and how much i have to clean the cage and what she can eat) She is about 4ft long (if it helps) and the cage size is 3ft L x 1-1/2ft W x 1-1/2ft H

OK now to get serious... I am not sure what you are asking. Are you asking what needs to be in the cage?
A water dish, if you wish two identical hides, and a way to make a temp gradiant(under tank heater(UTH) or ceramic heat emitter(CHE)). One hide on the cool side and one hide on the warm side. A way to monior temps and humidity(go to Wal-Mart and get an Acurite thermometer/hygrometer). They are only $12. Place the probe in the hide on the warm side and the display on the cool side. Temps should be 80-85 on the cool side, 90-95 on the warm side and we keep our humidity a 50% unless in shed then we bump it up to 60-65%. We use aspen bedding, but most use newspaper. NEVER use pine or ceder as the oils are toxic. Other then that I will need specific questions to answer if you want more information. You can PM me or just post here.

Hey man I noticed in another post that you said the room temp was what you were useing to tell if your temps were ok but the room temp is going to be different from in tank temps I suggest takeing an acurate tank temp a few degrees minus or plus won’t hurt either so no need to worry if there not spot on just try not to let them drop or raise more than 5 degrees hope this helps

OK now to get serious... Spraying the cage when the humidity drops too low is what we do. If you have problems with it consistently being low you could add a bigger or more water dishes or move it to the warm side of the cage. Like I said, if you need anything else let me know.

OK now to get serious... To give you an idea: A boa needs two square feet of cage per foot of snake(is what I have always heard). We have our 3 yr old, 6’, Colombian male in a 4’x2’x18" cage. However bigger is better unless it is a baby.
