I keep my 4 foot nics in 33"L x 18"W x 6"H tubs. My 5+ foot nics I keep in 48"L x 24"W x 12"H Boaphile cages. Nics tend to be a little more secretive than Colombians, usually going with a smaller size cage is better...they feel more secure.

Mites are pretty easy to identify. They are tiny little black dots that move. An infected snake will often be seen soaking in it’s water for long periods of time. There will usually be a lot of white "flecks" floating around in the water dish also.

Never use sand!! It will cause obstructions in the snake’s gastrointestinal tract, and can cause respiratory issues if it gets in their nose. Especially if you feed them in their cages. Your cage size should be fine. Aspen bedding is a good substrate. I use shredded cypress mulch.

LOL!

I don’t use a humidity gauge, I just sort of "wing it". If I find that my boas are in there water dish more than normal I’ll give them a little spray. I mist them once a week in the summer. I live in SC so the house is fairly humid even when the A/C is on. In the winter I mist more often. As long as they have good sheds, minimal dimpling of the scales, and a good iridesecent sheen I call that good.
