Hi James
Honestly, ibanezy rings a bell, but I cannot remember you specifically, I apologize.

I never post here anymore, it is just not the same as it used to be. Ya know, years ago I used to spend hours each day helping people, but I really don’t even enjoy reading the posts anymore. Waaaay too much BS now. I don’t have time for that.

I mostly lurk in the venomous forum from time to time, and say hi to Jeff Q one in a while. ( I do not have any venomous myself)

So I see by your profile you are a boa person too. I absolutely love mine, but every few months, I get a slight case of burnout. It only lasts a day or two when I feel it, then it’s gone. Funny, when I first got into snakes, I thought it was impossible that I would ever see the day that I would feel that way. You have been at it over 20 years.... do you ever get that way even if it is only for a day?

Well I have to be honest and say yes i get that way here n there...The thing that gets me going is thinking about breeding season and seeing the babies in their little sack’s "just watching two Boas court and breed is enough"...That always gets me back on track...Their not like Dogs and Cats, they dont run up to you for some Luvin. They are way more subtle in their ways..It has been great learning about Boas and trying my hand at breeding...There is actually more to it than we think, "Egg layers are alot easier"...I learn more every year...The day I stop learning is the day im not paying attention to my animals...They seem to tell me what they need by body posture and what the cage bedding looks like = if they have moved all the Aspen away from the hot spot,i need to turn the hot spot temp up and so-on...The last 7 years I have really tweaked my feeding "program" for each boa I now own, which is down to 4 adults from about 25 LOL...I simply ran out of time to get everything done...

I have a new set-up I am trying out this season...I am having trouble keeping my room temps up since we moved...I have 4 A-P Cages and 4 radiant heat panels with all my lights on a timer ran with a Herpstat 2 Stat...I think the heat panels are the best thing i have ever purchased, they work very well....I would recommend them to anyone who will use them with a good Stat....

do you ever here from Ray Raze ? I think that was his name? He was the guy that said "if you come to a forum to learn, then learn"!!! Ha Ha,they just come to argue anymore,I think I am burnt out on Forums LOL...

EMAIL me sometime -

keep in touch ~James

Hi Craig! I remember all those awesome pics you would post. How are your gorgeous animals doing? Still producing stunning babies?

James- I think what happened with me is that I had taken a year off of work, and during that time, our number of pets has drastically increased (Not just snakes). When I was not working, I had all the time in the world to give ALL our animals plenty of attention. I really enjoyed them during that time. Now I am back to work, and have more animals than ever (and still growing). But I sometimes find I am struggling to stay above water just getting the cleaning, feeding, and medical treatments done (some of the rescues that come in require diligent care). Sometimes I am so tired, I really don’t feel like doing snake chores. I have also noticed that since I started working, when I do chores, I sometimes cut corners, or rush a little, thus I have been bit several times in the last 6 months (goes without saying, all MY fault). These are mistakes I never would have made before when I had two or three snakes.

I think another part of it is I am so tired of what my living room looks like. I sometimes watch those home decorating shows, and would like to do some things to my living room, but that is impossible with all the caging everywhere... between the snakes, the tarantulas, the crickets and the mealworms (thank god I am not breeding mice right now, that is H E L L). There is just no where else to put them but in the living room.

Btw... I am bringing home more this weekend. ha ha ha.
Not sure what, but the adoption chair called me to be sure I was going to be at the meeting this Friday. She said she has a surprise for me. I know it is some kind of snake, and I suspect it is a young Brazilian Rainbow Boa... she knows I want one. Not to mention I am looking into possibly getting two more T’s this weekend as well (ornamentals). The T’s are actually my husbands, but he is on the road 100% of the time, so I take care of them 100% (he gets home about every 6 weeks).

Good to have decent mature people to talk to here

Craig, hope to see new pics soon!!

Carmelita
