 Reptile carpet

I see that reptile carpet is highly suggested. How do you clean poop from it daily? I don’t want to be handwashing a carpet each day. Someone suggested a baby wipe but I would be worried about any harmful ingredients. Suggestions?

I don’t use carpet on any of my reptiles just because their nails can get tangled and ripped off. I’d use paper towel for babies for the first 6-8 months then switched to substrate. When I had a beardie/uromastyx I used slate tile.

Where do you get slate tile? Isn’t that harsh for them?

 Reptile carpet

I use reptile carpet exclusively for all my dragons (beardies and others). I have never had an issues with it. I use Doobegone Habtat Cleaner wipes made specifically for reptiles) and/or Natural Chemistry Healthy Habitat sprayed on a paper towel for daily spot cleaning of the reptile carpet, or anything else in the cage that gets soiled. The second is much more cost effective, but the wipes ar every convenient.

Another alternative to reptile carpet is the Eco Terra Sand Mat. I don’t like it for babies as the sand sometimes rubs off a bit and could be ingested.

My dad’s friend bought the slate tile, I think he got it from home depot or hardware store idk. They didn’t seem uncomfortable so I left it alone. Some people had this nail problem with carpet and I witnessed it in some of my baby lizards so its a 50/50 chance of it happening, guess some people get lucky using it. Tile can also help with the nails.

 Reptile carpet

Your welcome and since beardies like hot basking spots tile heats up good.. I use a piece of tile for basking spots for my terrestrial reptiles that need high basking spots(tegu, sav monitor etc...)

 Reptile carpet

I use half tile half repti carpet. I figured the tile would get cold to sleep on at night but they never seem to sleep on the carpet anyway so when I get a new blade I’m gonna cut some tile and make the whole floor tile. My basking ledges are tile too. As for cleaning the carpet I spot clean with diluted reptisan spray then water to get up any cleaner left behind using paper towels. Once every week or two I scrub the carpets in the shower with organic soap. I have an extra set of carpet per enclosure so I can have a fresh one in while the other hang drys. I’ve never had problems with their nails maybe I’m just lucky but all said and done carpet seems worthless and as soon as I get my bozo in gear I’ll be cutting new tile
