 Question

u can.
fencies make a great snack.

so no u really cant. and get the off the sand now or sooner. it causes impaction for inexperienced owners. and from the post i gather u are an inexperienced owner. it’s ok i was too.
do lots of research. read lots and lots of caresheets. and.. continue to ask questions. better to ask a dumb question, and get an informed answer that u may/may not agree with. rather than lose an animal to not having the proper information on how to care for it.

 Question

Hey,
Welcome. No you cannot house them together. The bearded dragon will kill the fence lizards and if it doesn’t they will all be very stressed out. Not to mention they require different husbandry.

Calcium sand is no good and will cause impaction in your dragon. You should use a solid substrate such as tile, reptile carpet, newspaper, shelf liner, paper towel etc. If you must use sand please use Children’s washed and sifted playsand and raise your temps to 100F-110F in case any is digested.

Here are some awesome caresheets to give your Bearded dragon the best care. Please read many caresheets. Feel free to ask any questions and good luck! :]

 Question

I read a few care sheets and I wonder if a 55 gal tank would be ok for two baby well about 2/3 month old baby Bearded Dragons. I have a 36" ZOO MED Reptisun 5.0 UVA/UVB florasent tube bulb and a 100 watt ZOO MED Repti Basking spot lamp for the hot side and it’s also provides UVA.

 Question

If you are to get two hatchings they cannot be housed together unless they are from the same clutch, and make sure it’s two girls. you won’t beable to house two males or male/female together for sure. A 55 gallon will not do as it’s not wide enough, and if you get two beardies you will need quite a large enclosure once they age or there may be dominance issues between them. Also, the UVB you have is no good for beardies as the 5.0 is not strong enough for them, you need either the ReptiSun 10 linear tube, or a MVB. The basking temps for babies also should be 110f at least, so you may need a higher wattage of bulb...

 Question

Has research been done to prove that 5.0 uvb is not enough for bearded dragons? I have read many sites that say 5.0 uvb is sufficient, and many times on here i have read that it is not. Can you provide a link to such information? I am not trying to be confrontational. I just want to know if the information is accurate (and there is some type of proof) I myself use a 5.0uvb bulb...and if you prove to me That at it is not adequate then i will change it. (until then i will conduct some research on my own)

 Question

Changed mine before I got my Bearded Dragon Rex today the pet shop owner told me to ditch it and get a 10.0 UVB So that’s what I did, he told me he has been raising Beardies for 6 years and 5.0 was just not strong enough for them. I also have a 100 watt UVA Basking spot lamp bulb for the hotter side Zoo Med.
