Gaping is what bearded dragons do to cool themselves off when they are hot. It’s normal for them to do that on a regular basis.

 Conserd question

I know when beardies bask they tend to open there mouth for a while. Its normal for them to do that. Also when they are in a hotter place then usual they may take a dump lol. Especially in their bath water if the water is hot they will probly take a dump. Sometimes when i give my beardie a bath he will take a dump about 5 mins later. I usually give him a bath if he has not taken a dump in a while, or if he had taken a dump and he got messy lol. Also they recomend if he seems to have terminal indigestion give the beardie a hot bath not to hot but yes a hot bath because it will be easier for them to move there bowls.

Hot water is not good for a beardie, if water is to hot it could give them a seizure, luke warm water only...

Yes, gapping is normal to regulate their body heat.
My male ALWAYS takes a big one. None of the others do... but it never fails within 5 minutes, his water is dirty. Thats why I use the bath tub... cause after he does, I dont want him swimming in it. EEWW -- im cool with that! Yuck.

Nina
