 Stress marks appear while basking?

Hey guys...

I noticed that whenever my beardy basks under his basking lamp, sometimes his stress marks would appear.
I mean i thought stress marks only appear when you hold them and stuff, but it just kind of bothers me.

The basking spot for him is about 105-115F
Hes about 3 months old.

When i hold him he’ll have stress marks every now and then, but when hes under the light, even after several hours of now holding him, he has them.

Also, earlier today when i was feeding him crickets, i had the calcium powder on the floor.. wel like in the container, and he started licking it all up.

Is that okay?
or can he like "overdose"?
What if i just let him LICK his calciums twice a day, 5 days a week.
Is that okay too?
lol

thanks

Lisa

Yep, my new baby does the same while she is basking sometimes, it’s normal, he may be looking at something that is scary to him, or anything really, lol, all normal...They can get stressed for alot of different reasons...as long as the temps are correct and there is a cool side with a shady area, don’t worry....babies tend to get stressed alot, especially if they are getting ready to shed...

It’s ok if he licked a little calcium, as long as it’s not D3 and he gets to much, lol, but i would stick to dusting his food to ensure he gets the proper amount...

Nancy.

Oh haha, okay thats good to know :)
yeah, i have a cool side which ranges from 83-87 ish when the basking lamp is on.

Yeah no worries, i do the calcium no d3 twice a day.
I have the jurrasicCAL is that okay?
it says no d3.

yeah, i’ll still dust the crickets and he just likes to lick up the calcium off the bottom lol
i also sprinkle the calcium on his veggies.
Is that okay?

or too much in a day?

thanks.

Hi,

Yes the jurrasic Cal is ok...Dusting the vegies is ok, and if your dusting live feeders to be careful with him licking up alot from the floor, to much calcium may give him runny stools...If he eats alot of greens and you dust them, i would dust the feeders once...it is better just to dust the feeders though 2 x a day, rather than dusting the greens as most greens have calcium anyway...

Its funny how he never defecates in his tank, but when i take him out to bask in the sun, he does it there. Lol
I noticeed that before he goes, he runs around, almost liike a funny dance his hind legs twitch a bit, and OUT IT GOES.haha
Yeah..

oh okay, so just dust the crickets twice a day and thats it.

thanks.

LOL, yes, my oldest male likes to poo out in the real sun as well, lol, or the bath...

Yep, dust twice a day until he’s 4 months, and after that, well, it’s on your other thread, lol...

Besides stress.. they also darken to draw in heat. So, if he starts to get them after several hours of holding him... im kinda leaning that way. My babies will also get a little dark when basking sometimes....but its does not stay for a LONG time. Watch it.
But babies do stress about everything. LOL -- and then in return, we stress watching them. Fun times! :)
Its cute that your little guy likes the calcium! I wouldnt dust food and live prey. Too much. I would stick to just the prey if he is eating a few times a day. I use that same powder for my D3 free. :)

Ohh, that makes sense!
Yeah, hje does get dark, so i’d always wonder what was wrong?
lol
Thats good to know that other dragons have the same reactions..
Yeah, he doesn’t stay for that LONG.
yeah, i’m worried that i wont get to see him become a big dragon cuz of some mistake that i wasn’t careful about..
Yeah, i didn’t know he would eat it RAW.. hahaha.
its like eating ketchup without the french fries you know!
eeeeek :D

Yeah..
i’ll just do twice a day on the crickets...

i rread somewhere that to help them eat greens, you can dust the greens with calcium no d3, cuz they eat the cal on the crickets.. so idk.
They might be attracted to that..

thanks guys :)

Haha yeah, i hope he’ll get better by next week!
I’mm 18 too!
haha, today he snuggled into my hair.
i had my hair in a bun, and he was on my neck, and she squeezed in there..
after 40minutes or so, when i wanted him out, i couldnt get him out!
he then poked his heead out of my hair, so you’d see his tail and his head only.
haaha, yeah hes so ccute :)
aren’t all beardies, haha.

aww, thanks Turk!
i’m trying my best!
Woohoo, finally got my Reptisun 10 uvb working.
stepdad got the fixture to work.
No longer have to take him out everyday for his 30minutes plus sun basking.
Lol

but i probably will whenever i can, but don’t have to worry if i dont have the time.

thanks again :))
