 Inbreds?

Can beardies be successfully inbred? I know it’s an odd question, but we got Boodah, loved him so much wefound his parents and got another beardie from the owners. Then we thought "Hey, that’s incest, can/should we even do that"?

Inbreeding can result in many unknown characteristics...it is usually bad ...I have asked the same question of water dragons and received a very loud ....Don’t do it ...unless you are prepared to suffer the consequences of possible shortened life spans/ deformities/and ailments that could result in death.

 Inbreds?

in general its how specialty morphs in reptiles are made.. in dragons it would be ones like leather/silkbacks.. babies with unique visual traits are bred back to the parents and resulting siblings are either bred to each other or back to the parents again. its how they breed for specific traits
leos are worse.. anything expensive and fancy is inbred.. if an add says the animals are "linebred" its the same thing.. no one mentions all the eggs that dont hatch and the babies that die from the genetic mutations.. and how short the lifespans are in comparison to "mutts". heart failure is an issue with "giant" leos.. they have much larger bodies than a normal leo.. but their innards are the same size.. so their hearts have to work a lot harder.. i have a lot of rants about inbreeding. *continues grumbling to myself*

Seems cruel to me. And you have a good point about how you don’t hear about how many eggs don’t hatch or which ones are ill ... With that in mind, I don’t think I could do that ... Sentence an entire batch of babies to a possible (or probable) life of illness and pain ... Not my style ...
